Tiers...not just for cakes anymore!

I've been noticing a trend in dresses lately that I wanted to get your opinion on, dear readers. Several designers and copycats have been turning out dresses with layers upon layers of fabric, all the way down the body.

Now, not having yet tried on one of these designs, part of me thinks them quite girly and stylish but part of me thinks they might just add extra poundage to all but the tiniest of us.

The crochet number above is the Rendez-Vous by Paul & Joe Sister Flamme Dress from Urban Outfitters and below are a few additional examples, the BCBG Tiered Cocktail Dress available at E-dressme.com, Betsey Johnson's Blush Dot Cotton Strapless Tiered Dress available at Bluefly.com, and the TBags Ruffle Tier Dress at Pinkmascara.com, respectively.

What do you think? Will we look as pretty as a petit-four or will we look like we ate the whole batch?

Flowers on her toes...

So, I have a friend we call MaliBu, mostly because it suits her. She is funny, bubbly, laid-back, girly and the queen of all things pop culture. She also has this amazing set of gams that lend themselves well to shoes - particularly high, colorful, platform ones.

That's why when I saw that flower-printed, platform, high-heeled shoes are everywhere for spring and summer, I pictured her doing cartwheels. In the spirit of MaliBu (and spring fashion), get your manicured hands on your own pair! Their cheeky prints will add some girly flair to your otherwise standard outfits and some much-needed color to the same old, solid color ensembles we get so used to throwing on in the morning.

The shoe pictured above is the Nine West "Jai" Multi Platform Pump, the perfect platform peep-toe in almost too silly colors. Some others I find particularly fab are the Jessica Simpson "Brenda" Floral Denim Pump (a classic round-toe with a stacked heel and painterly print), the BCBGirls "Ariel" Multi-Floral Art Print Heel (another classic style with a truly versatile print) and the Guess "Carrie" Print Satin High-Heel Pump (a pointy-toe, sleek heel with a watercolor feel).

You know you want a pair...so go do some gardening in the shoe department!

Online shopping is ever-evolving...SHOP IT TO ME

So, over margaritas during happy hour last week, a friend of mine and I were discussing the fine details of fashion when she mentioned the site Shop It To Me.

Basically, the site acts as your own, personal online shopper, allowing you to personalize your profile to your sizes and to select apparel brands that you love.

They send you a daily or weekly e-mail, alerting you to any items that go on sale in your size. My friend has been stalking a Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dress for months and, thanks to Shop It To Me, is ready to pounce on one that just went on sale!

I just got my first SaleMail and found these ridiculously fab BCBGirls "Beverlyn" boots for 32% off. Hooray!

P.S. If you know of any young-uns who are looking for a paid marketing internship in the fashion world in San Francisco (impossible to come by), they are hiring as we speak.
